Tokyo Stocks open Higher on US-China Trade Hopes
Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday on the hopes the United States and China will circumvent a leap in trade frictions, and with a cheaper yen also supporting the market.
Washington and Beijing are nearing a major trade deal that would see both sides lower some of the tariffs imposed during the recent trade war, reports say.
Negotiators on both sides have made considerable progress and a final accord is being carved out, according to sources.
The US dollar procured 119.4 yen in early Asian trade, against 111.92 yen accumulated in New York and 117.4 yen in Tokyo on Friday.
