Toyota Adds New Lexus Crossover Line at Canadian Plant
Toyota Motors Corporation aims at the overhauling of its Canadian plant to begin manufacturing of an additional Lexus SUV model, the prime minster of Canada Justin Trudeau said.
The Japanese automaker will assemble the Lexus NX Crossover, in hybrid and gasoline versions, beginning in 2022 at the plant in Cambridge Ontario, president of Toyota Motors Manufacturing Canada Inc., said.
Toyota already builds Lexus RSX SUV in Canada, as well the popular RAV4 crossover and Corolla Sedan. Toyota had previously intended to move production from Cambridge to a new plant under construction in Alabama, which it will run in association with Mazda Motor Corp.
