Mitsubishi to Make Plug-in Hybrids in Thailand
Japanese automaker Mitsubishi will produce plug-in hybrids in Thailand starting in early 2021, the automaker's first push into producing the environment-friendly vehicles outside Japan.
Mitsubishi plans to invest about 10 billion yen ($92 million) to set up production equipment at a plant in Leam Chabang, in the eastern province of Chonburi. The unit will produce the Japanese automaker's Outlander plug-in hybrid.
Electric vehicles are expected to make strides in Southeast Asia. Mitsubishi will test the market by first rolling out plug-in hybrids.
