Tesla Vehicles Accounted for 80% of All EV Sales in the First Half of 2020
According to data from Buy Shares, a company that focuses on financial education in the stock market, 87,398 electric cars were sold in the first half of 2020. Of those vehicles, 71,375 were from Tesla. This means that the American automaker accounted for about 80% of all-electric vehicles sold in the country. The Model Y sold 18,861 units, which is surprising since the coronavirus pandemic and the plant closure affected the automaker's production of its latest model. The Model X and Model S weren't that popular, but they still did relatively well. Tesla sold 9,500 units of the Model X and 4,700 units of the Model S. The Model 3, Model Y and Model X were the three most popular electric vehicles sold in the first six months of 2020.
