The New Japanese EV Joint Venture Offers Battery-Powered Cars for Less than $ 10,000
The new joint venture is called "Idemitsu Tajima EV" and plans to introduce its small electric vehicle in October and place it in showrooms by 2022, the two companies said on Tuesday. The compact electric car will cost around 1 million yen ($ 9,500). The cheap electric vehicle will offer Japanese drivers a basic zero-emission mode of transportation. The Mini EV will have a range of about 120 kilometers (75 miles), will accommodate 2-4 passengers, and will operate at a top speed of only 60 kilometers per hour (37 mph). The ultra-compact electric car will measure 2.5 meters (8.2 feet) long and 1.3 meters (4.3 feet) wide.
