Diesel-Electric Hybrid
Today, all the hybrids are on the road use the engine of gasoline, called the most development till now. But the question is that the electric motor would be allowing for smaller or less torque engine of gas?
Only one way to have the well torque and small gas engine is to shrink all the engine parts even more. What if a three cylinder turbo diesel which is backed up by the electric motor heck. Imagine the efficiency if you take a fuel source which is already efficient 30% more and cut the size of engine one quarter or even one half.
Imagine if an electrical motor is shouldering most of the load of city traffic and driving and the diesel engine will be helping us with fuel economy of Highway. Only the one thing is keeping diesel back from hybrid is cost. That is because North American legislators are targeting entirely different emissions focusing to control nitrous oxide and particulates and on the other hand Europe wants to cut the CO2. As the parts of the technologies for the battling those emissions are at its odds with each others, North America diesel engine require attention paying re-engineering from their Japanese and Europe engines.
But by introducing the new Chevy Cruze Diesel and upcoming Mazda6 diesel, we are seeking interest in diesel engine enhancing in North America.
Now the green is going from here as to be seen in future. As hydrogen is a darling of today, can be a hindrance tomorrow. But the thing is really clear that a strong arm of government is needed for the continuous energy efficiency improvement.
