New Honda Fit and Honda Fit Hybrid on Sale from Today
Honda’s new and latest hybrid drive train technology has been introduced in the Honda Fit hybrid and will be launched today in Japan along with the all new Honda Fit. New Fit hybrid uses SH i-DCD Layout while the previous Fit hybrid had mild hybrid IMA power train. SH i-DCD stands for Sport Hybrid Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive. The engine capacity is more than the previous version. It has 1.5L engine capacity. Like Toyota Hybrid, this engine also utilizes Atkinson combustion cycle.
An electric motor sitting between engines and SH i-DCD has replaced the CVT - Continuously Variable Transmission. In the previous IMA car, there was no ability to decouple, but in the new version drivers are allowed to pull away solely on electric power. The resulting system is much more efficient than the previous one thanks to the dual clutch gearbox. The new hybrid system is particularly designed for small sized cars and is totally different from those used in Accord hybrid and upcoming Acura NSX system.
