Upgraded Toyotas and Hondas automatically notify hospitals of accidents
Japanese automaker Honda and Toyota have upgraded their vehicles to automatically send accident notifications to hospitals and fire departments to shorten rescue times. Both the carmakers have activated an emergency communication system that allows some vehicles to do so.
The system can now send accident notifications and data to all of the roughly 730 fire departments headquarters across Japan.
About 170,000 Toyota models and about 280,000 Hondas are compatible with the system.
