Mazda Will Offer an EV in 2020
Mazda CEO Akira Marunoto has confirmed the Japanese automaker will launch its first electric car in 2020, and it will be based on Mazda architecture.
The carmaker is tapping on hybrids, too, with plug-in models coming in “2021 or 2022.”
The Japanese automaker is developing a new EV architecture with Toyota. However, the next year’s Mazda EV would not come from that partnership.
By 2030, Mazda expects all of its vehicles to feature some sort of electrification, including some of its diesel models.
