Ford & Purdue Develops Patented Liquid-Cooled Electric Vehicle Charging Cable for Fast Charging
Ford Motor Co and Purdue University researchers are working on a new type of charging cable that can charge electric vehicles in minutes. The cables are liquid-cooled to dissipate more heat generated when the vehicle is plugged in and charged. This technology could eventually lead to recharging electric vehicles as fast as refueling conventional gas stations. The idea for the technology came from the Ford team's understanding of the challenges they faced when increasing charging speeds with higher currents. The team regularly collaborates to review the latest results and provide feedback on key areas of business.
