2018 Philippine International Motor Show
Even though Philipines Motor Show is held once every two years, but it always puts on a good spectacle. The 2018 PIMS was no exception. There were cutting-edge reveals, and concept cars and, for those seeking thrill, performance cars. The show offered a huge variety of cars.
There were many highlights at the show. Here is what you need to know.
- SUV, Crossovers Everywhere
It is known that a lot of Filipinos like the Cars with a bit more ground clearance. It was expected on this year’s show. Almost all the booths had some form of high riding vehicle, be it a car-based crossover or a pickup. It goes without saying that people flocked to them.
Toyota put on display its land cruiser while Nissan showcased Patrol, Terra, and X-Trail. Mazda made waves with the updated CX-9. Similarly, other automakers displayed high riders.
- Luxury Brands Strut Their Stuff
Luxury marques like Land Rover, Jaguar, and BMW came out in full force. They displayed a variety of vehicles.
- Performance Headliners
With the rising fuel costs, you would be thinking that there will be less-performance cars available, but the lineup at the show was surprising. There were a variety of cars available on the display from a mild-sounding 184 horsepower to fire-breathing 660.
Mazda unveiled updated MX-5 and Nissan surprised the crowd with Juke Nismo. There were also other items on the display.
- Aggressive Concepts
A total of 5 concept cars were on display in the show, all of which delighted the crowd with their belligerent, forward-thinking styling. Among the many others, there was the Small RS Concept from Honda and TJ Cruiser from Toyota.
- A Noiseless Revolution
For all flamboyant new cars seen in the auto show, there was the VT02 concept that may prove vital for Isuzu. The Japanese automaker wants to be the backbone of the local business with it.
- Show Stopper
Suzuki Jimny was one of the biggest stars of this year’s motor show. Its retro styling and bright colors attracted the crowd.
